About

Built my own portfolio first. Then helped others build theirs.

I work with investors who want to get things done, not just talk about it. I’ve built my own portfolio and helped others do the same. I’m here to help you build your financial future.

I’m Brendan Smith, the broker behind Tenon Finance. I work with property investors Australia wide, on residential lending and commercial lending, in whichever structure the goal calls for. I spent 15 years in strategy, analytics and design, mainly in banking, switching to mortgage broking before starting Tenon.

I am based in Marrickville in Sydney and happy to meet in person by appointment, but the work is Australia wide. I invest wherever the numbers stack up, not just in my own city, and I work with investors who do the same.

The portfolio, in specifics

Six properties, across three income types. Held in my own name, and through trusts and companies. Sourced myself, and alongside buyers agents. Every one of them financed the way I now finance them for clients, with the next purchase in view before the current one settled.

Why Tenon

A mortise and tenon joint is two pieces of timber cut to fit each other. Done properly it holds without glue or nails and stays square under load.

That is the job here. The loan has to fit the property and the goal it serves, not just the purchase in front of you.

You deal with me from the first conversation to settlement and beyond. The loan is only part of it. When the strategy needs other professionals, an accountant for the structure and the tax, a lawyer, a buyers agent, I can recommend people I have worked with, and you are free to use your own.

Three ways to start.

Pick the level of commitment that suits where you are up to.
